February at Chroma Studios

First off, I’m happy to announce that we are at 100% capacity. We have started a new waiting list, so if you are looking for a band or art studio, please contact us to be put on the list. Work continues on our plans for purchasing a building for Chroma Studios to expand into and if all keeps going as planned, we should have a new space and more studios to fill by May/June!

ChromaFEST is coming up soon! If you are an artist who would like to participate, remember, our submission deadline is February 15th. For more info, see THIS POST. It’s looking like there will be room for everyone so far! Get those submissions in as soon as you can, we have to start promoting the show in March, so I can’t take late submissions.

Our crowdfunding campaign is getting close to launching. We hope you will be able and willing to help us spread the word! There will be lots of great rewards for your donations, including tickets to our ChromaFEST show on April 8th.

Saturday, February 18th is this month’s Open Studio event at our Central Art Studios location. We have changed the times to 4-7pm to make it easier for everyone to make it. We look forward to showing you around the space and the art. Please stop in and say hi!

Call for Artists!

chromaheaderoldblog.png

We are in full planning mode for our upcoming ChromaFEST on Saturday, April 8th. What is ChromaFEST, you may ask? It’s a music/art festival and a fundraiser for Chroma Studios. We plan to make it an annual event, but this year is extra special. You may have seen our Big Announcement a couple of months ago. Now that 2017 is here, we are in full swing fundraising/planning mode. This year’s event will be at The Cell Theater in downtown Albuquerque. We will know more about times once we get the band/music lined up. There will be live music, food truck/s, a silent auction and of course, an art market!

We are looking for artists who would like to set up a booth to show/sell their work. The term artists is used in a broad sense here as we are open to any kind of creative handmade items. Fine Art, jewelry, photography, fiber arts, really ANYTHING handmade by YOU. This will be an outside show, so you may need a canopy for shade. You will need to bring your own set up; tables, chairs, easels, canopy, etc. Since this is a fundraiser show, we are asking each artist to donate a piece for the silent auction. In return, we will be eternally grateful to you!

What we need you to submit is 4-10 photos of your work, a bio/artist statement, and a $10 application fee. If you rent a studio from us, the fees are included in your rent. If you are not a Chroma Studios artist, the booth fee will be $25 in addition to the $10 application fee. This is a one day, Saturday show that may go as late as 10:00pm. Booth fees will be collected after you are accepted to the show. There is limited space, so unfortunately we can’t accept everyone. 😦 The deadline is February 15th and we will notify artists by March 1st.

Please send your submissions to chromastudios@comcast.net and pay your $10 application fee by paypal to plewis11@comcast.net or by check/money order mailed to Chroma Studios, 1606 Central Ave SE, Albuquerque, NM 87106.

Please email if you have any questions. We look forward to hearing from YOU!

Call to Artists: Balloon Fiesta Artist Market

Balloon Fiesta is getting close so I wanted to get word out that we are taking booth reservations for our October Balloon Fiesta Artist market. We have already received several reservations and are limiting the booths to 16 total. So, if you would like to participate, please reserve your space soon! This is going to be a great show! We have the Balloon Fiesta poster artist featured in the gallery during the month of October, plus on October 2 & 3rd we will hold our 2nd Open Studios event. The first day of the show is also our First Friday art opening, so there will be lots of people here that day. What this means for you is lots of people and lots of publicity for the show!

We will have 9 booths outside on the patio and 7 booths inside in the gallery. The first 7 who reserve their spaces will get first choice on being inside. (As of this posting, we have 1 inside space left) The price will be the same for all booths. The market will run Friday, Oct. 2 from noon – 9/10pm, Sat. Oct. 3 from noon – 6pm, Sun. Oct 4 from noon – 6pm, Fri Oct. 9 from noon – 6pm and Sat. Oct. 10 from noon – 6pm. If you can’t make it for all 5 days, the fee is $15 per day. For all 5 days the fee is $75. Below is a link to pay for your booth via paypal. You don’t need a paypal account to pay this way. If you prefer to pay in person or by mail, either come by the gallery (Wed-Sat noon-6pm) or mail your check or money order to the address below in my signature. We can also take credit cards at the gallery. Let me know if you want to set up for less than the full 5 days and I can send you a specific invoice for the days you want. These booths will fill up fast, so get your reservation in as soon as possible!

This Week at Chroma Studios!

It’s a slower than usual week here at Chroma, only 2 events scheduled! Thursday is our first ever “Tweet up” which has been combined with a charity event to create the first ever Charity Tweet up. What exactly is a “tweet up” you ask? It’s a meet up for people who met via Twitter! We had a great ARTICLE written about the event in the Daily Lobo (UNM student newspaper). It’s not just for Twitter people however, EVERYONE is invited and it’s for a great cause! Hope to see you there!

Also this week, on Saturday, we will have our second day of the Saturday Summer Artist Market. We had several GREAT artists participate last Saturday and plan to have several more this weekend. Every weekend will be different, so come out and support your local artists! The hours are Noon-6pm which also happens to be the gallery hours, go figure! 🙂 Stop by and say hi!

Starting June 6th, Chroma Studios Gallery will host a Saturday Arts & Crafts Market. Every Saturday 11am-5pm we will open our space to artists, rent table/wall space and have our own arts and crafts market. We are hoping to have the market run through October, ending during the two weekends of Balloon Fiesta. In cases of bad weather, all booths will be moved inside.

There will be 27 spaces total, 9 outdoors(on our patio w/ shade), 18 indoors (6 w/ table & wall space, 12 table only space). The outdoor spaces will rent for $15/day, indoor table spaces go for $20/day and indoor table/wall spaces for $25/day. Discounts will be given for spaces rented by the month; outdoor space $45/month, indoor table $60/month, indoor table/wall $75/month. So, in other words, rent a space for the month and get one day free! Artists must bring their own tables, though we do have chairs. Spaces will be rented on a first come, first served basis. It is recommended that you reserve space ahead of time in order to guarantee a space. However, if all spaces are not reserved, we will rent them out the day of the show on a first come/served basis. Artists must sit their own spaces, but we can take credit card sales through the gallery. We plan to heavily promote this market and hope to start something really BIG! The Rail Runner runs right past our building with the downtown stop only 4 blocks away! Also, the Convention Center is one block away!

Contact Paula to reserve your space today! By phone at 554-3805 or email chromastudios@comcast.net
