This Friday, May 1st, 6-10pm: Grand Opening of Chroma on Roma!

It’s been a crazy busy month, but it’s looking like all the hard work will pay off in the end! This Friday, First Friday, is our grand opening of our new space! Chroma on Roma is located on the NE corner of 1st and Roma in downtown Albuquerque. The actual address is 600 1st Street. We are to the right side once you come into the lobby of the building. There will be lots of new art, live music and as usual refreshments. Hope to see you there! Update on New Building

This morning we picked up the keys to our new art space!! The working name of the new space is ‘Chroma on Roma’. After measuring all the studios, we have set the rents according to size. You can see a list of all the studios available on the Studios page. The rents will vary from $150 to $400/month. There will also be a few spaces opening up at the Central location, because some artists plan to move with us to the new building. We are not only a traditional artist space, we are open to writers, poets, teachers, photographers, architects, graphic designers, videographers, musicians(as long as you aren’t too loud), any creative field really!

If you would like to see studios available at the new building, we will be there to show studios tomorrow, Tuesday the 7th at 10 am and 5:30 pm. The new building is on the NE corner of 1st and Roma in downtown. The entrance is on the south side of the bldg. If neither of those times works for you, please give Paula a call at 259-6320 to set up another more convenient time, or if you have any other questions. To see the spaces available at the Central location, please call for an appointment.

Tonight’s the Night! One Year of Chroma Studios!

Tonight is not just another First Friday here in Albuquerque, tonight is the night we celebrate our one year anniversary in business! I can hardly believe it’s already been a year. A celebration it will be, lots of art, jewelry, live music, a poetry reading, refreshments, open studios, artists to meet and fun to be had by all! Plenty of FREE parking too!

Featured artists are Paula Manning-Lewis, co-owner and founder and Chris Schelling, studio artist. Our upstairs studios will be open with artists here to share what they do. Carlos Contreras and Colin Hazelbaker will be entertaining upstairs with poetry readings, Aaron Lewis will be in his studio upstairs playing classical guitar, Jazz group, Duende, and bluegrass/blues group, Bleaker Street Boys will be out in the courtyard entertaining us with their music.

Hours are 6 – 10 pm, hope to see you here!

Call to Artists: Need Studio Space?

Chroma Studios has an opportunity to expand again, this time into an amazing 9,000 square foot space with 20+ studios and a huge gallery, not to mention potential performance space.

We will need to rent 10 of the 20 spaces to make it happen. Are you looking for a studio? The space is downtown, 24/7 access, very secure, most spaces are 13 x 11 feet or bigger and renting for $225 per month with a $100 deposit. More info on the Studios page
