Jamie started painting a couple years ago when he was living in Santa Cruz ,California.  He’s interested in hard edge abstract paintings and plans on completing two painting series. The first will be called “Neon on the wall” and the other will be called “Ice on the dune”. Jamie’s artistic inspirations are William Blake, Alex Grey, Charles Bukowski, Death grips, his mother, and nature.
In addition to Jamie Wynter we have 3 other artists opening their studios tomorrow from noon-5pm. Dee Alexandria, Cynthia Zeedyk and Paula Manning-Lewis.
We are located at 1606 Central Ave SE, suite 201 (upstairs). Our building is 1 1/2 blocks west of University Ave. Enter from Central eastbound lane, turn into our parking lot right after passing Ash Street and Yasmine’s Cafe on the corner. Parking is free in our parking lot or there is metered parking in the front of the building. Follow the signs and sidewalk chalk to find the entrance. See you there!

This Saturday from noon to 5pm I will be opening my studio to the public. Not just my studio, but 3-4 other artists in my building will also be here to show their work! It’s been years since we opened Chroma Studios to the public and I am so excited to share all the color and energy with you all! We have 11 studios in all, though not everyone is able to be open this time around.

We have 2 studios that are currently being moved out of, so we also have 2 studios opening up for new artists at the beginning of October. If you are looking for an art studio, stop by and see what we have available! We are always happy to welcome new artists into the Chroma Studios fold. 🙂

I recently moved into a new studio that I’m sharing with another artist. Dee Alexandria has been a friend since we first met selling our art at the New Mexico State Fair almost 10 years ago! We decided to share a studio because neither of us needed a big studio to ourselves. Plus, it’s nice to have company in the studio. So often, artists are isolated from their peers. That is one of the things about Chroma Studios that makes it so nice! We have a community of artists here that help each other out. Mine and Dee’s work compliments each other perfectly as we both love color, flowers and spirals!

She is a lifelong artist with 45 years of training and experience in the arts, including: Fine Arts, Appalachian Arts, Poetry, many styles of Dance, Wildcrafting Herbs, and Poetry. Cynthia was awarded with an Apprenticeship Grant from Ohio Arts for Traditional Heritage Basket Making. Her works sold both nationally and internationally. She was the largest female producer of Heritage Berry Baskets in the world. Her designs and creations include landscape paintings, floral and contemporary. Newest works in Scrimshaw. Cynthia has been a Chroma Artist since 2014.

Phillip Vigil (Jemez Pueblo/Chiricahua Apache) is a fourth-generation artist residing in Jemez Pueblo. He is new to Chroma Studios. He is a self-taught artist and has been working seriously on his art now for several years. He always had a love of art since he realized at a young age that the paintings on the walls were done by members of his family. He is highly influenced by the abstract modernists of the early and late 20th century. He works a lot on paper with oil pastels, oil sticks, oil paint sticks, spray paint, oil and acrylic paint as well.

We are so thrilled to have been featured on channel 7 news’ “Project Economy” last night! All thanks to a blog post on Duke City Fix! I couldn’t figure out how to imbed the video, but here’s a LINK TO THE VIDEO.

Of course, I gave a plug to the DCF, thanks again to all the great people at Duke City Fix that have given us such an awesome outlet for publicity!

They didn’t mention it in the story, but don’t forget, April 3rd, 6-10pm is our One Year Anniversary show! Open Studios and Artist reception, featuring the work of Paula Manning-Lewis and Chris Schelling, plus more art by all the other Chroma Studios artists!

Next month marks the one year anniversary of Chroma Studios. To celebrate, we are opening the upstairs studios along with the downstairs gallery for First Friday. Besides all the killer art, we will have several musical acts playing in the gallery, out in the courtyard and upstairs on the patio! Featured artists for the month are Paula Manning-Lewis, co-owner/founder of Chroma Studios, and Chris Schelling, Chroma Studios artist.

There will be lots of new work from the other studio and gallery artists. Chroma Studios currently has 14 studio artists including Aaron Lewis, Sarah Rose, Don Miller, Marcie McKenzie, Jennifer Ruden, Carlos Contreras, Colin Hazelbaker, Amy Schelling, Chris Schelling, Brendan Gould, Terri Hansen, Spring Griffin and Paula Manning-Lewis. They are not only painters, they are musicians, poets, writers, mixed media, fabric, ceramic artists and photographers!

As always, there will be refreshments and plenty of friendly faces to answer your questions. It’s shaping up to be a late night event, advertised hours 6-10pm, but we will be here as long as there are people having a good time. Come on over and help us celebrate one year in business!
